Batalha Golf Course set on a historic site (the name Batalha derives from the battle waged here between liberal and absolutist troops in the 19th century fighting for political control of the island of São Miguel), the most recent golf course in the Azores stands on a plain close to Ponta Delgada,.|To the North, the course faces seawards, whilst in the East it looks towards the hills, with higher mountains to the South. The fact that the course was built on volcanic rock created difficulties in its design and has resulted in a spectacular contrast between the green playing areas and the dry woods standing on rocky soil to the side of these. The holes are long and wide with large undulating greens, flanked by tall trees.
Sometimes it's not clear where you need to go to when going through the course (we mixed up holes 3 & 7)
Wonderful course and facilities. Superb staff!
Everything worked perfectly, thanks. Friendly staff, nice course, pretty good conditions.
Nice course and quiet. Not many people playing. A bit up and down and beautifull greens.
Nice course in a wonderfull surrounding. Helpfull staff en a well airconditioned clubhouse.
Fantastic views, great course. The fairways and roughs are narrow on many holes. Lots of balls into the inpentrable rough. Buy a dozen reclaimed balls at.50 c to each to have enough. The fairways Are hard and sloping adding many yards to the drive. Plan on looking for your ball beyond where you thought you hit to. Quite expensive compared to equivalent courses in the States. But worth it. Every hole is a photo op of the Ocean or the mountains. I call them mountains because you're playing on a volcano. Lots of rocks And beautiful flowers. Plan on a long round, but we weren't rushed, so just enjoy the experience. We had a beautiful sunny day, Had to put our jackets on and off many times, because when we were exposed to the wind off the Atlantic it was very cool, but when we were out of the wind it was quite warm.
Staff very fri endless and helpful
All three courses are great. The high percentage of carts is putting some pressure on sportive players walking.
Great physical challenge to walk the C & A courses but well worth the effort. Challenging golf - much planning and knowledge of your own game to master many holes. Lovely views to the sea and a well-appointed club house. Would love to be a member here!

Exciting layout and magnificent views. Nice clubhouse with everything you need and friendly staff. Condition of fairways and greens were ok. Information on the tees could be better and a lot of bunkers had no rakes.
Nice courses. The people at the pro shop are very helpful and kind.
